Health Services Offered

Student Health Services provides healthcare services to all Creighton University students, competitively priced at or below community rates.  See below for a list of services.

Questions regarding services, eligibility, billing, or insurance? Contact us. We can submit any charges directly to your insurance carrier for you, and we participate with most major insurance plans except Medicare and Medicaid. Payment plans and a self-pay fee schedule are available upon request. Students are eligible for services for one additional month after leaving the university (i.e., graduate, transfer, withdraw) to assist in the transition of care. For patients who are more comfortable communicating in their primary language, interpretation services are available by use of a telephone medical interpretation service.

Acute Care

Student Health Services offers same day appointments for the following:

  • Headaches/migraines
  • Minor lacerations
  • Mole check
  • Pink eye
  • Respiratory infections
  • Sore throats
  • Cough/cold
  • Sinus infection
  • Seasonal allergies
  • Skin rashes and infections
  • Sprains/broken bones
  • Stomach illness
  • Urinary Tract Infections

Allergy Clinic

Student Health Services offers Immunotherapy (allergy shots) through convenient, scheduled appointments with our allergy nurse. Our nurse works closely with your ordering physician to manage your treatment.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

The Center for Health and Counseling provides evaluation and management for students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Learn more about our psycho-educational evaluations, including diagnostic learning and ADHD assessments.

Chronic Conditions

Student Health Services manages many chronic medical conditions including:

  • Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Asthma-Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Immunotherapy (allergy injections)

Laboratory Services

Student Health Services offers a full-range of diagnostic tests and accepts laboratory orders from outside medical providers (results will be faxed to the ordering provider).

Men’s Health

Student Health Services offers men’s health services, including:

  • Annual physical exams
  • Eating Disorders
  • HIV testing
  • Sexually transmitted infection screening and treatment

 

Mental Health

Student Health Services provides medical management of mental health conditions and works in close collaboration with Student Counseling Services to meet the mental health needs of our students. The Center for Health and Counseling also has a psychiatrist on staff, specializing in medication management of mental health conditions. The Center for Health and Counseling provides evaluation and management for students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (see above).

Pregnancy Resources

Student Health Services offers pregnancy testing by appointment with a medical provider. If you are pregnant, a referral to an obstetrician can be provided.

Prescriptions

Patients in need of a prescription refill for a current medication prescribed at Student Health Services should contact their pharmacy.

Preventative Care

Student Health Services offers a variety of preventative care services, including:

  • Cholesterol screening
  • High blood pressure screening
  • Pre-operative evaluations
  • Travel consultations
  • Tuberculosis screening
  • Immunizations

Radiology Services

Student Health Services provides on-site x-rays performed by licensed limited radiographers. Images are electronically transmitted to consulting radiologists for interpretation. Special procedures such as CTs, MRIs, ultrasounds and mammograms are not performed at Student Health Services, but we can assist patients in scheduling at a local facility. We also accept orders from outside medical providers (results are faxed to the ordering provider).

Shoo the Flu

Student Health Services provides FREE injectable influenza vaccination at special flu shot clinics across campus each year. Both students and benefit eligible employees may attend the Shoo the Flu at CU clinics.

Travel Medicine

Student Health Services offers pre-travel services for study abroad, spring/fall break trips, and vacation travelers, including:

  • Pre-travel counseling and immunizations based on analysis of your itinerary, travel activities and review of previous immunizations.
  • Advice on insect protection and prescriptions for traveler’s diarrhea, malaria prophylaxis, and altitude sickness prevention.

Some immunizations must be given at least 28 days prior to travel to be effective. Schedule your appointment early! Please bring along a copy of your current immunization record.

Tuberculosis Screening

Student Health Services provides monthly clinics on campus for Health Science Students to complete their PPD skin testing requirement. For questions regarding PPD clinics, email immunizations [at] creighton [dot] edu.

Women’s Health

Student Health Services offers women’s health services, including:

  • Annual gynecology exams (Pap tests)
  • Eating disorders
  • Hormone therapy for medical conditions (We do not prescribe hormone therapy for contraception)
  • HIV testing
  • Pregnancy testing and counseling
  • Menstrual irregularities
  • Sexually transmitted infection screening and treatment
  • Vaginal infections
