Welcome Week is our official kick-off to the new school year. The program begins with move-in and provides a week of engaging activities for students alongside the first classes of the year!

Freshman Move-In and Welcome Week 2021

Move-in for first-year students will take place on Friday, August 13 (from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and Saturday, August 14 from (from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.)

(Click here for information about sophomore move-in)

On July 7 housing assignments and additional details about move-in were shared via email. Students must self-select a specific time slot to unload at the residence hall. Please see below for more information.

Families are encouraged to stay for the afternoon and evening of Saturday, August 14. Please see below for more information.

When do I move in?

Move-in will occur Friday, August 13 (8 a.m.-8 p.m.) and Saturday, August 14 (8 a.m.-12 p.m.). You must select your specific move-in time in the Housing Portal.

Please note, if you are part of a program with early move-in arrangements you should not select a move in time, you will receive additional information about your move-in time and process in the coming weeks.

How will the move-in process work?

Move-in times are staggered throughout the day to ensure a smooth check-in process with minimal wait times. When you arrive to campus at your selected time, you’ll have half an hour to check in, and another hour to unload your vehicle(s) at your residence hall entrance. Once your belongings are unloaded and brought up to your room, you will relocate your vehicle(s) to the designated parking areas, and return to your hall to continue unpacking.

Please note that individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are not required to wear a face covering or practice social distancing. Individuals that have not been vaccinated are expected to continue to wear a face covering and social distance to protect all members of the community.

As move-in approaches, additional details will be shared regarding driving directions, parking instructions, safety measures, and additional procedural expectations.

What if I need to request a change to my move-in date or time?

You can return to the Housing Portal to change your move-in appointment time at any point over the summer. For special requests, please email newjays [at] creighton [dot] edu. Please note that we will try our best to fulfill your request, but we may not be able to fulfill all requests.

Can I ship items to campus in advance?

Items may be shipped to campus prior to your arrival to make the move-in process easier. We ask that items are shipped no earlier than July 20. Packages that arrive before August 10 will be delivered directly to your residence hall room. Packages that arrive after August 10 will be available for pickup at the mailroom in your residence hall. All boxes should include your assigned residence hall name. Until you receive your mailing address from Mail Services, please address boxes as follows:

(Student Name)
(Residence Hall Name)
2500 California Plaza
Omaha, NE 68178

When will the halls open and close throughout the rest of the year?

  • Students may remain in their assigned residence hall over fall and spring breaks.
  • Freshman and sophomore residence halls will close for winter break, starting at noon on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
  • Freshman and sophomore halls will re-open for the spring semester at noon on Saturday, January 8, 2022.
  • Freshman and sophomore residence halls will close at the end of the spring semester at noon on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Siblings of graduating seniors will be allowed to stay until Saturday, May 14, 2022.

Do I need the COVID-19 vaccine?

All Creighton University students attending classes on campus are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to arrival on campus. As with other immunization requirements, you must upload documentation of vaccination here. Additional information on Creighton’s response to COVID-19 can be found here.
