Rising Junior/Senior Recontracting

Each spring, rising juniors and seniors may select an apartment for the following academic year. Apartments are available on a 12-month lease, May-May. Current residents may renew their apartments with any combination of the same or different roommates. Following the renewal period, current residents may change apartments, with any combination of the same or different roommates. After all current residents have selected an apartment, new residents will have an opportunity to select an apartment.

The process for rising juniors and seniors for the 2021-2022 academic year is now complete. To inquire about living on-campus next academic year, please contact living [at] creighton [dot] edu

Rising Sophomore Recontracting

Each spring, rising sophomores will select their housing for the next academic year. To participate, students will complete a housing application and then designate roommates for the next year (students who do not join a roommate group will be assigned a room based on availability). Selection times are distributed randomly to each verified roommate group to choose from available rooms.

A request to be exempt from this requirement must be made to the Senior Director of Housing and Auxiliary Services via email at living [at] creighton [dot] edu (by July 15 for requests for the upcoming fall semester, and by December 1 for the spring semester).

Please note that a specific hall or room type is not guaranteed for sophomore students. If you have a documented disability that limits your ability to live in certain spaces, please fill out the Housing Accommodation Request Form for further evaluation.

Process for Rising Juniors/Seniors

Application Process: All 2021-2022 Residents
(January 26-February 12)

  • If you wish to live in Opus or Davis this year, you may now log in to the Housing Portal to submit your housing application.*
  • Log in to the Housing Portal.
  • Create and complete a Housing Application (select the option for “Rising Juniors and Seniors”) for the 2021-2022 year.
  • After your application is complete, designate your roommates or have our office assign you to a group:
    • If you would like to designate your own roommates, create or join a roommate group. Please follow the prompts in the Housing Portal to complete your roommate group formation. Additional information about this process is available on our website as well as in the Housing Portal. Groups must consist of two, three, or four students, and be verified, in order to receive a lottery time or to be eligible to renew an apartment.
    • If you would like our office to assign you a roommate group and space, you will receive further information after completing your application. Please note, our office may not be able to accommodate the preferences of those who decline to create a group or participate in the lottery.
  • When all members have joined the group, the group leader must verify the group.

*Please note that in previous years, we’ve collected an application fee in order to provide access to the application. In lieu of collecting our typical application fee, we will convert your existing damage deposit to your application fee. As a result, you may submit your application without completing a payment in the NEST.

Renew Apartment Process: Keeping the Same Apartment
(February 1-12)

If you wish to renew your apartment, you will be permitted to do so starting February 1. A lottery time is NOT required to renew an apartment, but you do need to complete the pre-process steps listed above.

Starting on February 1 and until February 12, group leaders of a verified roommate group will be able to renew their current apartment. Please note, the group leader MUST be a current resident of the apartment being renewed. The group leader will select the room to renew, assign all group members to bedrooms, and complete the room selection.

Any apartments not renewed by noon on Friday, February 12 will be released into the lottery process.

Please note, while the University makes every effort to allow apartments to be renewed from year-to-year, there is no guarantee that every apartment will available for renewal. Should your apartment not be available for renewal, you will receive communication from our office regarding your options, including priority selection for a different apartment.

Change Apartment Process: Switching to a Different Apartment
(Available: February 23)

If you’re moving from one apartment to another, you’ll participate in the lottery process. Roommate groups verified by February 12 will receive a lottery time (emailed to each group member).

At the assigned time, the group leader may use the Housing Portal to select a room and assign beds to all group members. All group members will be able to view available rooms, but only the group leader will be able to select a space. (You can easily reassign the group leader by visiting the “Roommate Groups” tab in the Housing Portal).

New Apartment Process: Selecting an Apartment for the First Time
(Available: February 25)

If you’re selecting an apartment for the first time, you’ll participate in the lottery process.

Additional information will be sent to you regarding the specific steps of the process for which you are eligible. Please look for additional emails outlining dates for your process and further information.
