Fall 2021 Dining Update

Fall 2021 Dining Update

Feedback is important to our dining program. As we approach fall break, we'd like to remind all students and families that we welcome dialogue regarding the dining program and facilities. Students can always speak directly with our knowledgeable staff on-site – from our food service workers, our managers on the floor, or our campus dietician. We can also be reached any time at dining@creighton.edu. This week, students have also been invited to provide instant feedback at each station in Brandeis and Harper Dining Halls via a QR-activated survey.

This past week, in response to parent and student questions and reports of undesirable conditions in Brandeis Dining Hall, we evaluated our food handling and sanitation practices to ensure we provide service in line with our high expectations for dining on campus. This includes increased mitigation work our pest management partner and increased food handling vigilance. We have revisited our food safety training with our team to ensure that we follow all best practices, which have resulted in excellent assessments from our third-party auditor, Ecosure.

We have also received some questions from students and families regarding our hours of operation and offerings. A full list of offerings and hours can be found on the Creighton Dining website, here. This information is also available in the Creighton App.

We’re grateful for the hard work of our in-hall staff to keep our dining options as robust as possible. Like many others, Creighton is not immune to the well-documented shortage of personnel in the foodservice industry. The efforts of our dining team to operate our on-campus locations day in and day out make us proud. We appreciate our students’ thoughtfulness and gratitude toward our current staff members, and we appreciate your understanding as we continue to navigate the challenging industry landscape.

In addition to the full listing of hours and offerings online, please note the quick links for each dining location below:

Finally, after pilot periods held in conjunction with the Office of Sustainability Programs, we are excited to formally launch our composting program in Brandeis Dining Hall. Students will now see new, more permanent signage and educational materials in the dining hall as we aim to increase our contribution to a more sustainable campus community through improved waste diversion.
