In consultation with campus health experts and in accordance with local, state, and national regulations, we are now pleased to be able to offer self-move and pickup appointments to all students. Please review the information below to learn more about your next steps.
If you have a previously scheduled self-move appointment or would like your belongings stored in your next on-campus room
If you already have a self-move appointment (you may have qualified for this option based on your proximity to campus) or have elected to have your items moved to your next room, you do not need to make any adjustments to your plans. Please arrive to campus at your scheduled time slot if you have one. If you previously opted to have your items moved but would like to schedule a pickup appointment, please contact living [at] creighton [dot] edu.
If you have a room in Opus or Davis and do not yet have a scheduled self-move or pickup appointment
If you do not yet have an appointment to return to campus, you will receive a phone call in the coming days to schedule your time slot. Appointments will be offered through June 14. Appointments will be made for both packed and unpacked rooms.
If you have a room in an underclassman hall and do not yet have a scheduled self-move or pickup appointment
If you do not already have an appointment to return to campus, you will receive a phone call in the coming weeks to schedule your time slot. Appointments will be offered through July 3 (with exceptions available for students moving to Opus and Davis). Appointments will be made for both packed and unpacked rooms.
In response to students’ desire to collect belongings, the need to prepare apartments for new residents, and current health guidelines, all 12-Month agreements have been amended to begin on JULY 1, 2020.
Because of the amended occupancy date, no housing charges will be assessed for the end of May (May 20, 2020 – May 31, 2020) or the month of June to any student with a reservation for Opus or Davis starting May 20th, 2020. The May charge of $298.06 and the June charge of $770.00 will not be applied to your student account, resulting in a removal of $1,086.06 from your annual housing fees.
At this time, you should have received an email from the Residential Life and Housing Office outlining your available options. If you are still unsure of your next steps, please email living [at] creighton [dot] edu.
No. There is no cost unless you choose to have your items shipped to an off-campus address.
Typical domestic shipping costs between $30-$60 per moving box, depending on size and weight (shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and international locations will incur increased costs). Of rooms packed so far, the average resident has 10-12 boxes of belongings (this does not include furniture items).
Items will be stored in a clean, secure location on campus OR a secure off-campus storage space nearby. If you have specific questions regarding storage conditions, please contact living [at] creighton [dot] edu.
Yes. Please contact us at living [at] creighton [dot] edu any of your belongings shipped. We will communicate with you to confirm which items should be shipped, and which items should be moved/stored.
The University has implemented a period of amnesty during the move and collection of materials within a residence hall room. During this process, there may be items that would qualify as a violation of the Standards of Conduct within the Student Handbook.
Students will be given amnesty from minor policy and or standards of conduct violations related to the move and collection of their personal items. If the items are a serious health and safety risk or a felony (regulation/law/statute written by the City of Omaha), the University can and will initiate an educational discussion or pursue other educational interventions regarding these items. Amnesty does not preclude or prevent action by police or other legal authorities.
You will receive a call prior to the packing effort. This call will outline the packing process.
A staff member will contact you prior to packing the room. During this call, you will have the opportunity to identify which items are yours. We will video call if necessary determine whose belongings are whose. This option can be requested at the time of the contact call.
We have created a process for you to report damaged items. Please contact living [at] creighton [dot] edu to initiate a report. This report will be used to determine reimbursement. More information will be provided upon submission of a report.
If you have additional questions after reading all recent process-related emails, please email living [at] creighton [dot] edu or call 402.280.2717.
